This unit covers: engineering health and safety requirements, effective methods of communication, drawings and specifications, and working as a team in engineering.Principles of engineering technology
This unit covers: materials in engineering, properties of engineering materials, the application of analytical methods to engineering mathematical applications, and the application of analytical methods to engineering science.Principles of manufacturing technology
This unit covers: functions within a manufacturing organisation, the selection of suitable materials and components to manufacture products, planning production from a given specification
And either 2 (certificate) or 3 (diploma) units meeting employer and apprentice needs from a selection of:Machine components using milling techniquesMachine components using turning techniquesMaintenance of mechanical devices and equipmentPrinciples of fabrication and welding technologyPrinciples of electrical and electronics technology WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?
The course is a mix of regular assessment and observations in the workplace and attendance at College (Walford Campus) one day per week.
Inclusive in the course is Functional Skills / GCSE in English and Maths if required. WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required to enrol for this qualification. You need to be employed or seeking work in Engineering. WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I GAIN IF I SUCCESSFULLY
