WHAT DOES THE SUBJECT INCLUDE?
An emphasis is placed upon the practical skills which include conditioning, shampooing, cutting, blow drying, setting, permanent waving, colouring and neutralising hair.
The Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hairdressing is based on the National Occupational Standards for Hairdressing. It is a job ready qualification which requires learners to demonstrate in the workplace the skills and knowledge required in the hairdressing industry.
• Cut hair using basic techniques
• Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
• Set and dress hair
• Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
• Advise and consult with clients
• Style and finish hair
• Change hair colour
• Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation.
If you already possess a Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing, the Level 3 programme will help extend your skill development further. Hairdressing involves practical and interpersonal skills. Moulding and building shapes with hair can enable people to change looks according to their mood. To create these individual looks, shape, fashion and texture are all considered.
Emphasis is placed on practical skills which include cutting, drying, alternative setting, permanent waving, colouring and colour correction. Supervisory skills and goal setting are also included together with a range of optional areas of study. Work will be continually assessed throughout the course. Practical work with clients is carried out in a Commercial salon.WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
Level 2 Apprenticeship: 2 GCSEs at Grade C or above
