WHAT DOES THE SUBJECT INCLUDE?
The AQA GCSE English Language course offers a skills-based approach to the study of English. Throughout the course, you will demonstrate your ability to investigate and analyse spoken and written language and to experiment and use language creatively. The course is designed for post 16 students who wish to gain a minimum Grade C GCSE qualification, for progression to higher level courses and career choices. WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?
The course is structured in a way that enables you to express yourself creatively and imaginatively in speech and writing. You will also become a critical reader of a range of fiction, non-fiction and multi-modal texts.
The course is a one year course and is assessed by the means of two external exams. IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?
The course is suitable for those with an enthusiasm for spoken and written English and for those who wish to explore English Language in more depth. It is also suitable for school-leavers who wish to achieve a grade C GCSE qualification and for mature students who wish to develop reading, writing and spoken language skills for progression onto Higher Education courses.
A grade D in English is essential for progression onto this course.
