Uniformed Public Services
Aimed and designed at learners who want to pursue a career in the public services sector with the emphasis on the police, armed forces, fire service. Subjects studied include adventure activities, teamwork, outdoor activities (canoeing and kayaking), crime and society, equal opportunities, psychology, international rights and governments and politics, expedition skills, laws and legislation, community and cultural awareness as well as fitness and public service skills. Learning will be varied and creative with an emphasis on practical skills, teamwork and fitness.
Assessment is via a series of assignments, and for level 2 there are two exams. Visits will be made to Magistrates/Crown Courts, Houses of Parliament, Fire Stations and Ambulance Control plus other local centres of interest. The course offers the opportunity to participate in a one-week residential study trip to an outward bound centre.
