What is the course about?
A relaxing introduction to the 'Art of Beautiful Writing' taking it from the basics of script formation to spacing and layout techniques, with borders and decorative techniques. There will be one common project along with a personal choice of project - which may be a favourite quotation or poem, wedding invitation, greeting card, certificate/award or anything else in script you would like to present beautifully.
This short course is for the very beginner but also for those who would like to pick it up again and explore further scripts and decorative 'illuminating' techniques.
Is there anything I need to bring with me?
A4 white paper, cartridge or calligraphy type, 300mm ruler, white rubber, some white scrap paper, tissues and a piece of blotting paper, pencils size H, 2H and HB plus 2 others that you don't mind cutting. craft knife, masking tape or drawing pins and a drawing board - can be an old drawer bottom 24" x 16" or a piece of cut ply.
pen - Berol type chisel tip black ink about 2mm size or similar plus a further colour pen. If you prefer a 'proper' pen a chisel tip steel nib dip pen and black ink plus another coloured ink will suffice.
Are there any opportunities for progression with this course?
