What is the course about?
This beginners class will introduce you to everything you need to know to begin silversmithing!
No experience needed, all abilities are welcomed, the techniques learned will enable you to continue making silver pieces in the future.
You will work with sterling silver to create your own piece of beautiful jewellery. We will cover all the basics such as planning out a design, saw piercing, soldering, filing, and polishing. As well as covering different finishing techniques such as ageing and texturing. You will be shown a demonstration of techniques, and then get going yourself with guidance.
There will also be the opportunity to include some copper within your work to add colour as well as wirework techniques to include some gemstones.
All tools will be provided, silver will be an additional cost which can be purchased from the tutor.
Is there anything I need to bring with me?
Please bring with you a pen and notepad, tie long hair back and wear closed toe shoes. You will be working in a workshop so old clothes or an apron are also advised.
