The course is aimed at learners who have mastered basic watercolour techniques. During the course learners will be encouraged to practice and develop the skills of watercolour techniques, explore different ways of using colour, form, tone, drawing and composition. Understand the impact of the essential elements of basic design on achieving a successful painting. Learners will be encouraged to move out of their comfort zone and become more experimental and adventurous but the emphasis will always be on them developing their own individual style.
The importance of observation through drawing will underpin the course and different approaches will be discussed and practiced.
The course will build on and develop individuals facility in the basic watercolour painting techniques of wet on wet, wet on dry, washes and glazing. Is there anything I need to bring with me?
Please bring watercolour paper - 300gram a pad of about 10 sheets approx cost £8, paints, brushes including 1 large round size 12 or above, size 8 round, 1 size 2 or 3 rigger, pencils and waterproof pens. Palette, water jar, tape, ruler, rough paper, paper towel.
An initial cost could be approx £35 but the paints and brushes last a long time and the main recurring cost is paper. Is there anything else I need to be aware of?
