WHAT DOES THE SUBJECT INCLUDE?
The course consists of a range of units carefully selected to give students a broad base of knowledge and experience in engineering. The units cover engineering theory, engineering processes and teamwork, product design and manufacture including CAD CAM, commercial and quality aspects of engineering, mathematics, welding and fabrication, and materials science. WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?
The course is taught in units with specialist lecturers. There are both practical and theory aspects in the units. Each unit needs to be passed, they are assessed either by internal assessment, set assignments and exams. WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
· Be at least 16 years of age at the start of the course.
· Have a keen interest in engineering.
· Have undertaken GCSE’s and achieved 5 x 9-5 (previously A* to C) including English and Maths. WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I GAIN IF I SUCCESSFULLY
COMPLETE THE COURSE?
BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Engineering.
