A fantastic opportunity for a ‘Horticultural Apprentice’ is currently available on a large country estate between Craven Arms and Ludlow. The apprentice will work alongside the Head Gardener in the 13 acre formal garden which currently includes a walled kitchen garden, glasshouses, rose garden, parterre, maze and mixed borders.
This apprenticeship has a parks and gardens horticultural focus. It is flexible in the terms of the vast array of opportunities to learn that the 13 acre garden, glasshouse and experienced mentors provide.
This apprenticeship will provide the learner with a first class introduction to horticulture and the opportunity of discover and develop the core skills required to advance their own unique strengths.
Examples of how every day will be different and varied are listed below:
- Maintenance of flower beds
- Turf maintenance
- Vegetable production
- Involvement in the construction of a new sunken garden and other garden developments.
The successful candidate will be enrolled on a Level 2 Diploma in Work Based Horticulture. Working with the Head Gardener as a mentor, North Shropshire college as training provider and supported by a dedicated Horticultural Assessor.
