This programme will give you a real insight into the equine industry. Our equine centre will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and undertake further training with our horses and highly qualified staff. Our equine centre includes American Barn stabling, a large indoor and outdoor arena, paddocks and opportunities for hacking. Our centre is approved by the British Horse Society and is an approved riding school. We run an extensive programme of trips and visits as well as running masterclasses with a wide range of industry specialists. In the spring term you are required to complete an industry placement as part of your course to further enhance your employability skills.

Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level.

City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Equine Care

Entry Requirements
- Four GCSE at grade 3 (D) or above (including maths and English), or Merit grade or above in a BTEC Level 1 qualification or equivalent
- You will need at be at least 16 years of age at start of the course
- You will need to complete an interview and initial assessment
- You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for horses being able to walk and trot unaided

Additional Course Cost
The Additional Cost, payable to the College is: £60. You will be asked to pay this or to put arrangements in place to pay this, at enrolment. Additional Costs are incurred to support teaching, learning and assessment. This includes the use of specialist and/or industry standard equipment, visits, learning materials and resources.
For this course, you must purchase personal equipment, costing approximately £120 to be used on your course. You must also have your own riding hat, riding boots and back protector. The College provides a list of items and suppliers and you purchase this equipment directly unless you are in receipt of a bursary.
You will need to purchase sufficient stationery. Courses that include work placements or work experience may incur travelling costs.We also offer a range of optional activities and visits outside of your course. These would be charged for separately and usually run subject to demand.
