These courses are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to work in the agricultural sector. There is a strong vocational element and students will experience a wide range of both theory and practical sessions that will prepare them for work in the livestock, arable and mixed sectors of farming. Students will not only experience UK farming systems and methods but also gain knowledge of international farming systems.
The courses are well supported by the Colleges’ own farm which contains both traditional and future farming systems e.g. integrating milking systems using robotic and traditional milking parlours supporting our 300 cow herd, modern contract farming systems which promote timely arable practices, early and mid-season lambing flocks.
The core subjects across all courses reflect a cross section of the Agricultural Industry and include Dairy, Beef and Sheep Production, Forage and Combinable Crop Production, Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition and Breeding and Livestock Husbandry. Built into the Agricultural programmes students will be able to undertake a variety of legislative qualifications which will advance their skills and competency..
