BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care

Overview

This is a practical, work-related course.  You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

You are appointed a Personal Tutor for the duration of the course.

What does this subject include?

This course consists of a selection of the following units:

  • Human Lifespan Development (Exam)
  • Health and Social Care Values
  • Effective Communication in Health and Social Care
  • Healthy Living (Exam)
  • The Impact of Nutrition on Health and Wellbeing
  • Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care
  • Individual Rights in Health and Social Care
  • Creative and therapeutic activities in health and social care
  • The Health and Social Care Sector

What is the structure of the course?

The course is made up of 4 mandatory units that everyone takes. You will also study specialists units and students are also given the opportunity to complete a placement in a variety of settings.

What are the entry requirements?

You will normally be required to have at least one of the following:

  • A BTEC Foundation certificate in a related subject
  • A standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to 4 GCSE’s at D or above
  • Related work experience
  • Other related level 1 or 2 qualifications
