BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness)


This course has been developed to provide you with the opportunity to gain detailed academic knowledge and understanding of Sport and the related areas of exercise, science and performance. Students will develop their understanding of all areas of sport, including investigating how the body responds to exercise, exploring the techniques used to analyse sports performers and examining the importance of a healthy balanced diet.

What is the structure of the course?

The course is made up of 180 credits over 2 years, with units being valued at either 5 or 10 credits. Each of which is assessed by a range of methods including written assessments, role play, presentations and practical activities.

What are the entry requirements?

  • 4 GCSE passes at grade C (grade 4) or above (including maths or English).
  • Or a merit or above in a BTEC Level 2 qualification
  • Successful interview and initial assessment
  • You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for this subject area
