What is the structure of the course?

National Extended Diploma in Business. Equivalent to three A Levels has 13 units, of which 7 are mandatory and 4 are externally marked.

The National Extended Diploma is a two year, full-time course that meets entry requirements in its own right for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in business areas before entering employment. It can also support learners who want to progress directly to employment in business or business management. It can also lead to higher apprenticeships in areas such as HR or Business Administration. The emphasis is on doing things – not just writing up reports but starting up a real business, doing a presentation to real business people, organising an event – showing you’ve gone beyond just getting a qualification! Work experience takes place over 10 days and helps you gain insight into practical skills, values and attitudes needed in the workplace.

What are the entry requirements?

  • Five GCSE passes at grade C (grade 4) or above, (including maths and English) or a Merit or above in the BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Business
  • Successful interview and initial assessment
  • You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for this subject area
