WHAT DOES THE SUBJECT INCLUDE?
You will study a number of different units to give you an understanding of science and how to perform experiments in the laboratory and in the field. Units range from principles and applications of science, scientific investigation, laboratory techniques and experimental skills, to disease & microorganisms, human biology, inorganic and organic chemistry and forensic evidence collection and analysis.

The course is practical and theory based, which equips you with the scientific knowledge and practical skills that are in high demand in industry and universities.
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
Entry requirements are 5 GCSEs grade 4 (C) or above which should include; Science, Maths and English. Relevant Level 2 BTEC qualifications are taken into account. Appropriate work experience is also considered. Entry is by interview.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I GAIN IF I SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE COURSE?
BTEC Level 3 National in Applied Science as a Foundation Diploma (one year) or Extended Diploma (two year). The Extended Diploma in Applied Science can be specifically in either biomedical science or analytical and forensic science.
