WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but learners must be at least 16 years of age.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?

NCFE CACHE Level 1 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings

To gain this qualification, learners must achieve a minimum of 37 credits:
•           20 credits from the mandatory units
•           a minimum of 17 credits from the optional units.
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on a practical placement as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations.
Placements are required for achievement of this qualification. We recommend a minimum of 250 placement hours.

During placement, learners will need support from a professional within the Real Work Environment who will be required to complete professional development records.

What does this subject include?

This course consists of a selection of the following units:

  • Understand the range of service provision and roles within health and social care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare
  • Understand the principles and values in health and social care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare
  • Awareness of protection and safeguarding in health and social care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare
  • Introduction to communication in health and social care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare
  • Introductory awareness of equality and inclusion in health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings
  • Introductory awareness of health and safety in health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings
  • Introductory awareness of person-centred support in health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings
  • Introductory awareness of working with others in health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings
