Overview

WHAT DOES THE SUBJECT INCLUDE?

The course consists of a range of units improving students understanding of engineering. They will develop their technical knowledge and practical skills by following a series of carefully selected topics. This allows students to progress onto university or into industry in a field of their choice.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?

The course is made up of units including: Engineering Principals, Delivering Engineering Processes Safely as a Team, Engineering Product Design and Manufacture, Applied Commercial and Quality Principals in Engineering and an Engineering Project. Units are assessed internally with practical and theory assessments, and some are tested externally through exams.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

  • Be at least 16 years of age at the start of the course.
  • Have a keen interest in engineering.
  • Have undertaken GCSE’s and achieved 5 x level 9-5 (previously A* to C) including English and Maths.

OTHER RELEVANT DETAILS?

Learners will complete a 2 week work placement in an engineering related field.

You will have a Personal Tutor for the duration of the course.

One Year Full Time – September intake.
