What is the course about?
This course is designed to include all the basic sewing skills needed to start sewing your own projects at home, topics will include sewing seams, hand sewing , inserting different types of zips, buttons and button holes, measuring fabric, using your own sewing machine, hemming and pattern matching. Each week I will teach a different sewing skill, so if you would like to make cushions or bags you can or any small sewing project that can incorporate using a zip or button fastening, this course is designed to give you the chance to try out a whole range of different sewing skills to build on, with the intention at the end of five weeks to try all those sewing projects you have been wanting to try. Sewing is fun and useful hobby so why come along and learn some new skills.
Is there anything I need to bring with me?
A small sewing kit, scissors, and a small range of fabrics to make samples with and a sewing machine if you have one.
Are there any opportunities for progression with this course?
Yes, progression onto dressmaking class next term.
